FAQs

What is a fee-only adviser?

Fee-Only advisers (or planners) are Financial Planners that have a fiduciary responsibility to act in your best interest. Translation: We work for you.

Unlike financial planners whose compensation is based on product sales or commission, fee-only advisers do not get paid by commissions, bonuses, or fees tied to product sales. We are on the same side of the table as you. You can feel comfortable knowing our relationship is conflict-free.

What is a fiduciary?

A fiduciary is someone who is bound ethically to act in the client’s best interest. It is a position of trust. They act in their client’s best interest. Always. They are not compensated on selling a particular product. Simply put: fiduciaries do not have conflicts of interest.

Does it matter that I am not located in Spokane?

No. I work virtually with most of my clients. This means that we can chat via phone, email, Google Hangout, Skype, or carrier pigeon from the comfort of your own home.

Will I have to transfer my assets?

No. I am not affiliated with a particular broker-dealer (company), so you are free to keep your money where you’d like.

Do I need a financial planner?

Think of a your financial planner like a doctor, personal trainer, teacher, car mechanic, or a handyman. Can you manage these areas of your life on your own? Probably, but you are more likely to stay on track and succeed with professional help.

The same goes for your financial trek. Are you doing the best you can with savings strategies or debt repayment? Are you saving enough for college and in the right places? Are you saving enough for retirement and in the right places? Will you ever be able to retire? What the heck is a mutual fund? What investments should I pick for my 401k? These are some of the various questions we can help tackle.

Do I need to have a lot of money to work with you?

No. You may find that most financial planning firms require you to have a minimum net worth before they look at you (this minimum usually ranges from $250,000-$1,000,000). Money is part of our everyday lives, therefore I believe everyone should have access to a financial adviser. I work with people with a negative net worth. I also work with high net worth individuals. No minimums or maximums here!

Is your firm name Financial TREX or Financial T-REX?

My name was initially inspired by my love for hiking and nature. Going on a long nature trek has a lot of similarities to a financial trek. However, if you ask my 2-year old, she will hands down tell you that it is T-REX and give you a thundering roar.
